Can you clean composite decking like Trex?
Yes. Composite grows the same algae and mildew as wood but needs gentler chemistry to avoid streaking the cap layer. We clean composite regularly.
Should I clean before staining or sealing?
Always. Stain applied over gray, dirty wood fails early. Cleaning plus brightening is the correct prep, and we time jobs so the wood dries fully before finishing.
What is the brightening step for?
It neutralizes cleaning chemistry and reverses tannin darkening, restoring the wood's natural warm color. It is the difference between clean and restored.
How long before I can use the deck again?
